father’s day

We celebrate you today Dads.

I finished reading a book recommended by a friend recently titled First-Time Mom by Dr. Leman. In the book he writes a partial chapter for first-time dads that Jonathan read a while ago. Here is an excerpt:

“I hope you realize the influence you can be on this new child. If you have a daughter, you represent all of manhood to you little daughter; you also represent almighty God. Will you be loving, will you be there for her, will you take the time to make an indelible imprent on this young girl’s soul? . . . . I’ve found that the type of man a woman chooses to marry is often directly related to the type of relationship she had with her father. The fact is, you will make an imprent on your daughter. The only question is whether it’ll be a positive or negative one.

“But I’m having a son,” some of you are saying. Guess what? You represent to that son what men are all about. As he gorws up, he’ll watch how you treat your wife; that’s probably how he’ll treat his wife too. those choice words you use in a moment of anger? Don’t be surprised if a few of those slip out of his mouth too. he will watch you with an almost unnerving intensity, and he’ll copy just about everythign he sees and hears.

It’s an awesome responsibility to step up on that mound and take over, but I bet you’re up to it.”

What an honor to be a father!

Today I am thankful for the father’s in my life. For my own Dad who has always loved me well. And for my husband who is an amazing daddy to Genevieve.

This ia awesome. I truley believe my father made me feel comfortable with me. He always made me feel I could do or accomplish anything I set my mind to. Fathers are a huge influence on their daughters. I know Johathan will be that to Evie !
