monday
I’ve decided to share a picture a day this week. . . . not really going to say much about them. . . just a glimpse into my day. Not promising great photographic skills. . . today’s was taken with my phone. . . just challenging myself to take pictures of our life.

Today I am thankful for this promise: “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Rev 21:3-4

pillowcase dress
My friend Kendra’s little girl Fallyn invited Baby Evie to her pink piggy birthday party last night. So much fun. Kendra is a lover of vintage so I thought I should make Fallyn a sweet dress from my6 stash of vintage pillowcases. These are super easy to make. I would tell you how but I pretty much just winged it. There are tutorials all over the internet though- search for pillowcase dress on Pinterest and you will come up with a bunch. I love these. . . a quick 30 minute project that probably cost about $3 to make and looks so sweet. It also will grow with her for a while as it will just get shorter over the summers and the ribbon closing makes it totally adjustable on top. You should make one too.

i went a little bit crazy. . .
. . . and started demo-ing our kitchen today during Genevieve’s nap. I have been saying for a year I am going to tackle the kitchen this summer. . . and we are well into August now. . . so if I am going to hold true to my word I better get started. Wasn’t planing on spending my day doing this. . . I just got an urge to tear our the fugly faux tile on the walls and went for it.
To refresh your memory. . . here is a before featuring said faux tile:
This picture is really old and wasn’t taken for the purpose of showing off the ’tile’ that is really like wood paneling only looks like tile (I mean, seriously, what were they thinking?).
Here is the ’tile’ in it’s other location in the kitchen:
And here is what it looked like after I used my husband’s handy dandy crow bar to say buh bye to the what-were-they-thinking?!?-tile.
And now you know why it has taken us 2+ years to address this situation. What lies beneath the tile is a hot mess people. That is the glue (yes I said they used glue) they used to put up the tile with what I am sure is a gazillion layers of wallpaper underneath. Sigh. So I will be spending the rest of this week taking down wallpaper during nap time. I’ll keep you posted. . .

Today I am thankful for deep conversations.

stairs
Genevieve can climb the stairs. And she is FAST. Three steps separate the family room and the kitchen. The dogs are not allowed down to the family room which presents a problem for a little girl who considers our dogs her besties. So up the stairs she goes every time this momma isn’t looking. So I put up a gate.
After this last picture Genevieve threw herself down on the ground and threw an all out tantrum. Just in case I wasn’t clear on her opinion of the new gate situation :)

Today I am thankful I have a healthy little girl who is able to crawl and climb and even throw fits when so many other mama’s babies are unable.

frisbee golf
One of my favorite things about our current stage of life is our schedule. Jonathan and I have never before in the 5 years we have been married had a typical 8-5 or something similar schedule. Between the two of us, one (but usually both) have had wack-a-doo schedules that have required us to be creative with our free time, especially in carving out time for each other. So to add to the already long list of how Jonathan’s newish job has blessed us . . . his schedule is one of them. He works 7:30-4. . . . wait for it. . . ONLY MON – FRI!!! This might not seem ground breaking to many, but we haven’t had our weekends off limit to our jobs for 3 years. So we are enjoying them. A lot. We also enjoy the part where he only works until 4 because we can do things as a family on weeknights and still have time to eat together and get Evie to bed on time. . . ect. Amazing I tell ya!
Last week after work one day Jonathan asked Evie and I to come with him to play frisbee golf. I will say upfront I didn’t realize that coming with him meant pushing a stroller through grass (well lets face it, it’s been 100 degrees plus for weeks so it’s dead grass) and up hills for a couple of hours seeking out shade and trying to keep Evie hydrated – but it was still fun. Jonathan was excited because he scored his lifetime best on this course (he is serious about his frisbee golf people- not really).
I feel like I should say something like “check out his sweet form” or something . . . but in truth I have no idea what I am talking about . . . so I’ll just say I think he is awesome :)
This little bug did so well. . . she isn’t really bothered by the heat at all. . . which is more than I can say for me!
This is what I did while Jonathan threw the frisbee.

Today I am thankful for family time :)
