pinterest challenge
Okay. . . I mentioned last week that I was partaking in the Pinterest Challenge (you can read about it here or here). The basic premise is to actually DO something you are inspired by on Pinterest during the challenge week. So. . . when the challenge posted last Wednesday and I still hadn’t made Evie’s Halloween costume. . . I knew that would be my project.
I had been pinning owl costumes for a while and knew that is what I was going to be making. Here are some of my inspiration photos:

There were other images I pinned and you can follow the Pinterest button on my side bar to look at my pins to see them all. . . but these two were where the inspiration for Evie’s final costume came from. I liked the idea of making her a cape for wings (honestly because making actual wings sounded like too much effort for 2 hours of wear time) and feather up a onesie like the bottom picture. It was actually really easy. I cut ‘feathers’ out of a variety of fabrics I had mostly on hand and sewed them in rows to a grey onesie. I made the cape out of grey denim (really just cut it out and finished the edges. . . easy peasy) and then sewed feathers and a ribbon for tying it on. DONE! I really spent a little over an hour on the whole thing (I sure hope every Halloween costume goes that well).
And although I posted this picture yesterday. .. here is Miss Genevieve modeling for you one more time:

Today I am thankful for my Gramma who inspired me to learn to sew and the lessons my Mom got me so I could.
