genevieve’s room- the details
Hi! If you have been following my blog for a while. . .this post is redundant (read: feel free to skip it). I originally posted these pictures in July and they have been featured on a few blogs since. Quite a few people have followed these pictures here- so if you are new- Welcome!
I have received a lot of questions asking for specific details so I am going to try to put them all in one place for those who want to know. :)
I made the wreath on her door using a hanger and fabric scraps. I took apart the hanger and made a wreath shape. I then cut strips of fabric and tied them around the wire. Easy peasy.
The origami cranes (or swans as we call them at our house) were made using scrapbook paper and are hung using fishing line. I just know how to make them- but I learned using a tutorial a very long time ago on you tube. Search google for a tutorial and you will find hundreds.
The lamp is an old lamp base from Target I spray painted and the shade is vintage.
The fabric basket (it holds diapers) is from Sewing Momma.
The pink baskets are from Bed Bath & Beyond- however I don’t think they are available anymore.
The changing table/dresser we got from Jonathan’s old work when they went out of business, but it was originally from Ikea and I believe is still available.
You can purchase an ABC print similar to the one we have here.
The ‘G’ is from Hobby Lobby. It was gold and I painted it using Krylon’s Hot Pink spray paint.
I made the sock monkey. If you want one made for you, convo me through my shop or send me an email (see contact me above).
The plate and cup were a gift purchased from Mackenzie Childs.
The sheep is from Crate and Barrel (but I bought it about 5 years ago so I doubt it can be found now-sorry).
The elephant was a gift purchased from artist Patience Brewster.
The crib is from Ikea.
I made the quilt. Visit my shop to see other’s I have available or to custom order.
The rocking giraffe was a gift purchased at a local store in Wichita called Trios.
Window sheers are from Ikea. I added ribbon trim to the bottom of cheap roller shades from Home Depot.
The paper lanterns are from Asian Ideas. If you want specific size and colors, please email me.
The orange painting is by me.
The rocking chair is the one my Mom rocked her babies in.
I made the pillow using vintage fabric. I actually have more of that fabric if you would like to order a pillow, convo me through my shop.
The giraffe on the wall (as well as the turtle and penguin seen elsewhere) were painted on the wall by me. I used an overhead projector to put up an image of the animals and painted from the images.
The doll was a gift and is a Bla Bla doll.
The art was a gift. It is fabric that has been framed.

I just saw this on Apartment Therapy and had to come over and comment! I LOVE this room and, when we have kids, want something similar in its versatility and gorgeous coloring! Maybe I can decorate the guest room like this in the time being…
What a beautiful room! I love the subtle colors and how welcoming it is…
